Winter is here and it can get quite chilly. Well not as cold as some countries but cold enough for us to wear a few extra layers and maybe a jacket to keep ourselves warm. Winter always reminds us of hot cocoa, soups and some yummy warm food! But unfortunately along with the cold weather comes dry skin and damaged hair caused by the change in temperature. This blog is going to give you some tips for keeping your skin glowing and body hydrated during the cold, dry days.
Moisturise your body first thing after a shower is one of the best tips to prevent dry skin. Using a good lotion and moisturising yourself right after a warm bath keeps your skin smooth and prevents itchy, flaky skin.
Most of us tend to drink less water during the winter as we don’t feel very thirsty. Our body needs to stay hydrated so make it a point to drink water regularly or eat fruits with high water content like watermelons, oranges, etc.
Waking up on cold mornings seems almost impossible but once you are up, try to get some exercise before you start your day. Exercising causes one to sweat and removes the toxins from your body as well as gives you glowing skin.
Babies and kids too face problems like dry skin or infections during this season. Make sure they wear comfortable warm clothing and don’t try and use too much of soaps and shampoos as this may cause excessive dryness in their delicate skin and hair too.
Oiling your hair before you wash it can help a great deal during the winter. Oil your hair & keep it on for 15-30 minutes before you shower, or better still keep it oiled overnight and wash it with lukewarm water while you shower. This not only keeps your hair smooth but also prevents hair fall and dry scalp.
Wear a scarf or a hoodie to cover your hair when you go out to avoid breakage and split ends. Using warm water instead of hot water while washing your hair is important as hot water tends to remove the natural oils from your scalp and causes damage.
If you own any pets then don’t forget to give them the care they need for winter as well. Keep their beds warm and cozy by adding a few extra blankets and cushions. Make sure they drink enough water to keep them hydrated throughout the day and they don’t feel tired.
Hopefully with these tips you’ll be breezing through this winter with glowing skin and a healthy, hydrated body! Keep warm and don’t forget to moisturise!
